GHAR
GHAR
Preface
Being born and raised in Antwerp, and later moving to Amsterdam for my studies, my Indian heritage has still always been an integral part of my identity. This blend of experiences across cultures inspired me to create the project GHAR, which means "home" in Hindi. GHAR is a storytelling project that explores the deep connection between fashion and nostalgia, particularly for individuals studying abroad. Through the lens of six diverse characters, each from a different ethnicity, the project delves into how clothing and accessories become more than just items of personal style. They transform into emotional anchors, comforting reminders of home and culture. Whether it's a family heirloom or a traditional garment, each story reveals how fashion bridges the gap between distant places and cherished memories, offering solace in times of homesickness and cultural displacement.
